Why a separate practice server is worth it
Practising on a public server wastes your time and everyone else's. On your own server you get unlimited money and grenades, see grenade trajectories, practise without pressure and load Workshop maps made specifically for training.
The basic config
Create the file cfg/practice.cfg on the server and put this in it:
sv_cheats 1
mp_limitteams 0
mp_autoteambalance 0
mp_roundtime 60
mp_roundtime_defuse 60
mp_maxmoney 65535
mp_startmoney 65535
mp_freezetime 0
mp_buytime 9999
mp_buy_anywhere 1
sv_infinite_ammo 1
ammo_grenade_limit_total 5
sv_grenade_trajectory_prac_pipreview 1
sv_showimpacts 1
sv_showimpacts_time 10
mp_restartgame 1
Run it from the server console with exec practice.
Workshop maps
Training maps from the Workshop (aim, recoil or lineups) are loaded by their ID. In the server's startup parameters, add:
+host_workshop_map 123456789
Replace the number with the map's ID, which you find at the end of its Steam page URL. On the next restart the server downloads and loads the map by itself.
Bots for retakes
For retakes, set the bots to fill the server and move yourself to CT:
bot_quota 10
bot_quota_mode fill
bot_difficulty 3
mp_humanteam ct
The server fills up with bots, you are on CT and you get retake scenarios automatically.
Practice on a separate server
If you want to train without disturbing your main server, use a second small server just for practice. Your competitive server stays clean, with its own settings.
CS2 at Wiptor
Wiptor CS2 servers support Workshop maps and full access to settings on every plan. You do not need a ticket to enable sv_cheats or change startup parameters: it is your server and you configure it as you like. The Public plan at €10/month is enough for a practice server.
